One of the laboratory tests that will be essential to make products that are manufactured in China and looking to be sold in other countries, are the RoHS Directive. This directive 2002/95/EC restricts the use of a number of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. A total of six hazardous materials cannot be included in the manufacture of these products. If your company is planning to outsource the production of these products, it is very important to have these laboratory tests.
Since February 2003 this policy is being implemented in the European Union. If you intend to sell these products there shall submit these laboratory tests. Many other countries also consider that legislation limiting the use of the following metals:
- Chromium VI
To comply with this directive does not mean not to use these metals, but it should be taken into account the limit of how much can be used. Except for cadmium that assumes a maximum 0.01% of the total weight of the material, other metals cannot be used in higher amounts to 0.1%.
These lab tests will analyze the materials your company will manufacture in China to meet the RoHS Directive and that at no time these limits are exceeded.
Leaving these test for our company to do is the best decision. We are located at the place of manufacture where all products are produced; we are based Guangzhou and have agreements with CNAS qualify laboratories.
